Color of the Year—Reimagined!

We all know that Pantone announced late last year that the Color of the Year 2022 is a sweet and soothing "Very Peri"—a light lavender hue that represents a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity. However, that trend quickly mellowed out to make way for a fiercer and bolder color. It turns out, fashion designers and style influencers wanted something brighter, bolder, more energetic: they wanted the color pink. 

What the Trends Say for Summer.

A vibrant and playful shade, this color shines through the fashion industry and its trends, capturing all demographics, genders, and age groups. Pink is a timeless and bestselling color that stands out for any occasion. We have seen this lively color reappear yet and yet again on the Spring/Summer 2022 runways, from known brands like Valentino, Dior, Versace, Alexander McQueen, Ferragamo, and even with retail leaders like Mango, Reformation, and Larroudé. We have also seen flashes of magenta from a hot-pink Coperni bag and magenta blazer from The Best Street Styles of Paris Fashion Week 2021.

From a Harpers Bazaar article, the creative and fashion director of AI shopping platform The Yzaare, Taylor Tomasi Hill tells that "'Valentino Pink PP' might be the most recognizable shade, but pinks in general are seeing a resurgence—and it's so much more interesting than the same-old millennial pink." Experts have also seen that nationwide website searches for pink items have increased in the past month, with a spike following the said Valentino show—from categories such as blazers, dresses, bags, bathing suits, mini dresses, shoes, and even accessories.  

Yes, pink is truly loud, playful, and expressive—but the trends show that even minimalists will surely turn their heads and fall in love with the year's defining color trend.
